Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has clarified that he is clearly content with the Foxes and has no reason to consider a fresh challenge. The Northern Irishman only took charge of the Foxes in February this year but he has made a drastic improvement to their fortunes that they are now regarded as genuine candidates to make the top four.
Speaking in a press conference, Rodgers was asked about the managerial vacancy at Arsenal and he happened to dismiss the speculation saying: “I think exactly the same as I always have done: it’s something that naturally happens. When you’re doing ok, people want to take you away from something that you really enjoy. If you’re not linked then it doesn’t matter. I’ve said a number of times that we’re at the beginning of something here. I’ve absolutely loved every minute since I came here and have a good relationship with the people that run the club.”
The Foxes are currently eight points behind Liverpool at the top of the table but Rodgers has regularly stressed that the club are not focusing on the title race. Instead, Champions League football remains the priority for the moment and they seem on course to achieve the feat with a 10-point over fifth-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Nonetheless, they can’t get complacent with the brilliant beginning to the season and need to concentrate on the next four league games which are definitely winnable. Towards the end of December, they have to face Manchester City and Liverpool in back-to-back matches and results in those games may give a fair idea whether the Foxes can make the extra push for the title.
Leicester have a home game against Everton this weekend. Should the Foxes grab a sixth straight league win, the Toffees may seriously considering sacking Marco Silva from the head coach position. Everton are presently at the bottom end of the table with just four points separating them from the drop zone.
