Vakoun Issouf Bayo confirms Kolo Toure convinced him to join Celtic

Celtic’s new winter signing Vakoun Issouf Bayo has revealed that a discussion with technical assistant Kolo Toure was essential towards his move to the Glasgow giants. The Ivory Coast has been highly-rated after his successful stint in Slovakia and he now has the chance to make himself a regular with the Hoops.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Bayo revealed his delight after making the switch to the reigning Scottish champions. He added that Kolo was primarily responsible for the transfer after the former Arsenal man expressed the Hoops’ interest in him, he said: “I’m feeling good, and I’m happy to be here at Celtic.

“Kolo called me beforehand and explained that Celtic were interested in me. I said was very interested in working with the club, with the manager and with Kolo. Celtic is a great football club, and I’m very happy to now be a part of it. I also know Eboue Kouassi from the Ivory Coast national team at Under-21 level. I know him well, and I also spoke to him beforehand.”

“The 22-year-old’s success in the Slovakian top-flight has already called comparisons with Ivorian and Chelsea legend Didier Drogba“ but he has plenty of work to do before he can reach the heights of the veteran marksman, who recently retired from the game. Meanwhile, Bayo’s arrival provides Brendan Rodgers with a luxury of options in the frontline which was not the case during the “first half of the“ campaign.

Aside from Bayo, the club have already recruited Timothy Weah and Oliver Burke on loan deals from Paris Saint-Germain and West Bromwich Albion respectively and the trio should enhance Celtic’s push for an eighth-straight league title. Celtic are currently holding a six-point gap over Old Firm rivals Rangers at the top of the table with 15 games left to play.
