Former Leicester City defender Danny Simpson believes Harry Maguire can instantly become a success at either Manchester United or Manchester City. The England international has been an impressive performer for the Foxes in the past two seasons and he has now been touted to take up a bigger challenge in the Premier League.

Speaking to TalkSPORT, Simpson said that he is not surprised with the interest from the likes of United and City for Maguire, given the centre-back has the credentials to play at the highest level, he told: “I'm not surprised that [Manchester] United and [Manchester] City are in for him. For me he's one of the best defenders. He's a top lad and he's only going to get better. He's improving, he's a leader and he can be wherever he wants to be. The way he brings the ball out from the back and organises everyone is quality. He wants to go all the way to the top and I think if he does go to one of those two teams, he'll kick on straight away and take it in his stride.”

Both United and City have already failed with a £70m bid for the defender and reports suggest that the latter won’t come up with a renewed package. As such, United have been offered a clear route to pursue the central defender, although they would have to match the Foxes’ £90m price tag which remains non-negotiable at the moment.

Meanwhile, the Foxes have made quality business for the summer with the recruitment of Youri Tielemans, Ayoze Perez, and James Justin. Out of those, Tielemans (on loan with the Foxes) and Perez were impressive during the backend of the 2018/19 Premier League season and a similar level of performance should enhance the Foxes’ push for European football next term. Leicester start their league campaign with a home game against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
